The Email Editor is the heart of Kit — the tool creators open every day to communicate with their audience. Dylan designed the core composition experience from the ground up, creating an interface that makes writing, designing, and sending emails feel effortless.
The challenge was building an editor powerful enough for professional creators yet simple enough for someone sending their first newsletter. Every decision was guided by the principle that the tool should get out of the way and let creators focus on their message.
As lead product designer, Dylan owned the full design lifecycle: user research, information architecture, interaction design, visual design, and close collaboration with engineering to ship pixel-perfect results.

- Designed the complete email composition interface from scratch
- Created the rich text editing experience with inline formatting toolbar
- Built the template system for reusable email designs
- Designed responsive email preview across desktop and mobile
- Conducted user research and usability testing with creators
- Iterated on the design system for email components
- Collaborated with engineering on WYSIWYG rendering fidelity
